"Alma mater" World Champion

According to one dictionary the term "alma mater" literally means "nourishing mother", or as others translate "feeding mother."

And curiously this term is used to refer to college or school of a person graduate. But why was used this way?

This sentence the word 'soul' functions as an adjective meaning "feeding." In fact the Romans said 'alma mater' at Ceres, who was the goddess of agriculture and fertility.

Almost

'feeding mother' is the university or school that feeds into knowledge to anyone.
